Digital recordings are easy--you conceal the recorder. I will go in to more detail about that in an upcoming post. And it is not necessary to talk into your sleeve or something ;o). You just let the recorder capture what happens.

Taking photos can be trickier. Depending on the situation and the scenario, some shoppers conceal the camera, or pretend they are photographing something else, or . . . there are several ways to get the photos without being noticed or being obvious.

Hmmm . . . that seems like a good topic for a future post, too.

Since you are trying to be very discreet when doing a shopper job, how do you manage to do the job without employees noticing you making digital recordings or taking pictures? I can see how the recorder would be very handy for making verbal "notes" about what you are observing. But it seems it could make you rather obvious also. Just wondering how you handle it.
