I do many fast food shops & get my timings with a timer app on my smartphone. I pretend to be reading e-mails or texting & touch the lap button for every required point. So many other customers are using their phones, I don’t look suspicious. Also, there are privacy screen protectors available online that block others from seeing what’s on your screen if they stand next to you.

I tried a stopwatch/wristwatch combo to do a coffee shop and that did not work well. I had to look in order to see the times. My son showed me that my cell phone has a split second timer stop watch. It worked like a charm. I need to use only one button which is easy to find. I press when I join the link, press when I’ve paid, press when I get my drink.

Using the stopwatch on a cell phone can work in some situations. I have recently heard of a few companies asking shoppers not to use cell phones to time shops as employees tend to notice and be suspicious.

Most cell phone have a timer/stopwatch function.
