It is once again time for New Year’s resolutions. And, after lots of holiday celebrations, many of our resolutions will include losing a few (or many) pounds. Here are some tips especially for mystery shoppers who want to lose weight while mystery shopping.
Park farther from the door. This is kind of obvious, but walking burns calories. When you arrive at a mystery shop location, do not look for the parking spot closest to the door. Park down the street or at the far end of the parking lot and walk. This has the added advantage of giving you a better look at the condition of the parking lot and building exterior. And when you leave, you will not be observed if you sit in your car and make a few notes about the shop. Make it your goal to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, and use a pedometer to track your progress.
Watch those restaurant shops. Eating out is a nice perk of mystery shopping, but it can also be a professional hazard! The calories add up quickly whether you are doing a string of fast food shops or a fine dining mystery shop. Look for shops where you can make healthful eating choices (even many fast food mystery shops would qualify), or stay away from restaurant mystery shops for a while. Use this as motivation to try new types of shops you have not done before.
Combine working and working out. Surf for mystery shopper jobs, review shop guidelines, or keep up with what is new at MysteryShoppersManual.com while you work out on your treadmill. A treadmill laptop holder gives you a sturdy place to put your computer during your workout.
Get paid to check out area health clubs and weight loss programs. There are mystery shops that involve touring health clubs or listening to the sales presentations by diet program counselors. Taking these types of mystery shopper jobs can be a good way to determine what your options are if you are thinking about signing up for a gym or a weight loss program. And you get paid for it, too!
Use your mystery shopper earnings to pay for a membership in a gym or weight loss program. Think you can’t afford it? See if you can cover the expense with your mystery shopper earnings. Set a monthly goal that includes the cost of the membership you want. After all, how much is it worth to you to look and feel better?
Mystery shopping activities such as dining out or sitting in front of a computer for hours can cause you to pack on the pounds. Or, you can make other choices to avoid gaining weight or even lose a few pounds. It’s up to you.
